This market predicts whether at least one tropical cyclone classified as a typhoon or stronger will make official landfall in mainland China between August 20 and December 31, 2026.
China’s coastal regions are frequently affected by tropical cyclones during the summer and autumn months. While typhoon activity is typically most active from summer through early autumn, tropical cyclones can still affect or make landfall in China later in the year depending on ocean and atmospheric conditions.
This market will resolve Yes if the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) or the National Meteorological Center officially confirms that at least one qualifying tropical cyclone makes landfall in mainland China between August 20, 2026 and December 31, 2026, Beijing Time.
The market will resolve No if no qualifying typhoon makes official landfall in mainland China during this period.
Storms that pass near the Chinese coast without making official landfall, or storms that make landfall only in Taiwan, Hong Kong, or Macau, will not count.
Resolution Date: December 31, 2026, or earlier if a qualifying typhoon officially makes landfall in mainland China
Resolution Source: China Meteorological Administration (CMA) / National Meteorological Center official typhoon reports
